Hidden Roads Project is a collector and exotic car dealer in New Jersey. A small collection chosen one car at a time, shown by appointment, and a handful of ways to work with us.
We are a small shop, on purpose, run by people who spent years buying and keeping collector cars before they started selling them. Every car that comes through is one we have driven, inspected and written up ourselves.
Most dealers move metal. We look for the examples a collector would hold out for: a factory colour that was ordered rarely, a manual gearbox where most were automatics, a long single ownership, a service file that runs to the present day. We pass on far more cars than we take.
Whether you are selling, looking, or not sure yet, it starts with a conversation. No floor, no pressure, and a number you can hold us to. Here is what we can do for you.
Send the car over through the Sell page: year, mileage, a few photographs. Two minutes. We look at recent comparable sales and the car's condition and come back with a clean offer to buy it outright, usually within one business day. If the car would do better on consignment, we say so.
Sell outright →The car stays yours until it sells and we do the work of selling it: the dossier, the photography and film, the write-up, the enquiries, the inspections, the negotiation and the transport. We take on a small number of cars at a time and give each one the full treatment.
Terms are agreed per engagement, in writing, before the car arrives. There is no published percentage, because the right arrangement depends on the car. You will know exactly what you will receive at any given sale price before you sign anything.
How consignment works →Some cars do best in our own collection, by appointment, with the full dossier and film. Others do best in the open room. When a car should go to auction we represent you through the whole run: the photography and film, the write-up, the listing, and the questions that come in while bidding is open.
We advise which road suits the car. The decision is yours.
In-house or at auction →A quick search turns up plenty of cars. The one in the right colour, with the right gearbox and the right history, takes longer. Tell us the year, the specification and the colour you are after and we go looking, through our own network of collectors and private sellers as well as the auctions and the open market.
There is no charge to start a search, and no obligation when we call with a car.
Tell us the car →Every car we list is gone through the same way before it reaches the site. We photograph the complete walkaround, the engine and the undercarriage. We take paint-depth readings across every panel and photograph the tyre tread and date codes. We pull the history report where one exists and gather every service record, manual and tool we can put our hands on.
All of it is on the car's page, and a flaw is disclosed on the photograph of it, where you are already looking. You are welcome to have the car inspected by a mechanic of your own choosing as well, by appointment.
See the dossier on a live car →Most of our cars go to buyers outside New Jersey. We arrange enclosed transport anywhere in the United States and hand the car over to the carrier ourselves, with photographs at pickup. Collect it in person if you would rather; we will have it out and ready.
Questions answered →Collector-car lending through our financing partner. Apply online in a few minutes, before or after you have chosen a car, and have an answer quickly.
Apply online ↗We take trade-ins. Tell us about the car when you enquire and we will give you a number for it alongside the price of the car you want. A deposit holds a car for an agreed period while transport or financing is arranged, with the terms set out in writing before anything is paid.
Deposits, trade-ins and the rest →Call or write, tell us which car or which road, and we will take it from there. Usually a reply within one business day. By appointment, in New Jersey.
Three doors, one conversation on the other side of each.
