Consignment / How It Works

Your car,
sold properly.

We take on a small number of cars at a time and give each one the full treatment: the dossier, the photography and film, and the right road to a buyer, in our own collection or at auction.

Consignment means the car stays yours until it sells and we do the work of selling it: presenting it honestly and completely, finding the buyer who gets it, and handling everything between the handshake and the transporter pulling away.

The dossier

Every car we take on is documented before it goes to market, the same way whether it sells here or at auction.

  1. InspectionWe go through the car ourselves: mechanical condition, paint-depth readings on every panel, tyre tread and date codes, and a road test.
  2. HistoryWe pull the history report where one exists and gather every service record, invoice, manual and tool that belongs with the car.
  3. PhotographyThe complete walkaround, the interior, the engine bay and the undercarriage, shot properly, with any flaw photographed and captioned where a buyer is already looking.
  4. FilmA cold start, a walk around, a drive and a run through the functions, so a buyer a thousand miles away can see and hear the car before they travel.
  5. The write-upWhat the car is, why this example matters, and what the market is doing for it right now.

In-house or at auction

In our collection

The car is listed on this site with its full dossier and shown by appointment to serious buyers. We field the enquiries, run the inspections, negotiate on your behalf and arrange transport. Best for cars that reward time with the right buyer.

At auction

For some cars the open market is the right room. We represent you through the whole run: the photography and film above, the listing, the write-up, and the questions that come in while bidding is open. Best for cars with a broad, active following.

We advise which road suits the car. The decision is yours.

Your part

  • The title, in your name and free of liens, or the payoff details if there is a loan.
  • Every record you have: service history, invoices, the original window sticker or build sheet, manuals, spare keys and tools.
  • An honest account of the car: what has been done, what has not, and anything you know a buyer would want to know.
  • The car itself, delivered to us or collected by our transporter, so the dossier can be made.

Terms

Consignment terms are agreed per engagement, in writing, before the car arrives. There is no published percentage, because the right arrangement depends on the car, how it should be sold and what it needs before it goes to market. You will know exactly what you will receive at any given sale price before you sign anything.
