One of the more uncommon variants of the 997.1 generation, the Targa 4S combines the wide-body Carrera 4S platform with Porsche’s signature sliding panoramic glass roof system, offering open-air driving while retaining the comfort and practicality of a coupe.

Porsche's sliding panoramic glass roof system replaced the traditional Targa top & bar configuration in the 993 generation, the last generation to use the sliding pano roof system was the 997.2, after which Porsche returned to the traditional Targa top they moved away from at the conclusion of the 964 generation.
